As the City of New Orleans prepares to celebrate its Tricentennial, the local Catholic Church is celebrating 300 years of faith in the Crescent City. As Bienville established the city in 1718, he designated the place where the church would be built, and  today, the Catholic Church still stands as the only entity to be part of the society and culture in New Orleans for three centuries.

The  Office of Archives and Records for the Archdiocese of New Orleans is looking for a Processing Archivist / Records Analyst who can help preserve and provide access to the historical records of the Archdiocese.  The position will be responsible for creating access tools and providing reference for the public and archdiocesan staff.  The ideal candidate for this position will be able to analyze and facilitate the records management functions and needs of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

What struck you the most about the three-day Louisiana Priests’ Convention that was held last week in New Orleans?

The Old Ursuline Convent Museum will debut The Church in the Crescent: 300 Years of Catholicism in New Orleans on October 13 with a Tricentennial Gala Celebration and open to the public October 14.
